Created in 1997, the "Maison Française du Cap" (French Business Centre) merges the Economic Department of the French Embassy and the regional Chapter of the French-South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The main missions and targets of the Maison Française du Cap are:
- the dynamism of the French business community in the Western Cape; this mission directly depends of the regional Chapter of the French-South African Chamber of Commerce.
- The services of commercial support towards French companies. Related to the Johannesburg Economic Mission, the Cape Town Economic Mission covers the sectors of vine growing, fruits and vegetables, fishing, nautism, petrol ressources, gas ressources and big distribution.
